Catch Me If You Can + Games

We watched Catch Me If You Can tonight. Gina conked out about halfway through, but I was absolutely enthralled. As a founding member of the Tom Hanks Hating Society of Northeastern Tennessee, I expected to be annoyed by yet another sappy, emasculated Hanks performance.

Well, in honesty, he did play another sappy emasculated guy, but the movie really wasn’t damaged by that.

Anyway, the movie is about a 17-year old con artist named Frank Abignale, Jr. He steals a ridiculous amount of money over a couple of years by forging bad checks and talking his way into situations that most people wouldn’t even think about. Watching this movie won’t enrich or otherwise change your life, but it will definitely entertain you for two hours and twenty-one minutes, and you might learn a little bit about human nature.

I should also mention that I’ve spent the last few nights playing a few games for review in our July issue. Rise of Nations is fantastic. I can safely say that it’s the most fun I’ve had with a real-time strategy game since I first played Starcraft.

Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis is RollerCoaster Tycoon with dinosaurs instead of roller coasters. Despite an annoying Radeon bug that causes crashes whenever you zoom in on a dino, the game’s a blast.

More to come on both of these games tomorrow. It’s time for bed now.
